Deleting vs Unlinking Nodes
Updated February 24, 2026
When you view a text doc, some nodes will display as excerpt nodes. Node displays as an excerpt when it was not originally created under the currently viewed parent.
Deleting excerpt nodes delete the node everywhere, meaning the node will be deleted from all of its parents. To remove the node from the currently viewed parent but keep the node in other places, unlink instead of delete.
When you delete a parent node that contains excerpt nodes, the excerpt nodes will not get deleted.
